עִרְבֵּב, עִי׳(reduplic. of עָרַב I) to mix up, confound, disturb. Y.R. Hash. III, end 59a עי׳ את המזלות he (Moses) confounded the order of the planets. Cant. R. to I, 9 היו מְעַרְבְּבִין אותם they (the lightnings) confused their ranks; ib.; Mekh. Bshall. s. 5 עִרְבְּבָן, הממן, v. הָמַם. Tanḥ. Vaëra 5 (ref. to יהולל, Koh. 7:7) מערבבין אותו, v. עָסַק. Lev. R. s. 20 אם אני … הריני מְעַרְבֵּב שמחתוכ׳ if I put him to death now, I shall disturb my daughters wedding feast. Koh. R. to II, 2 (read:) ועִירְבַּבְתִּים I confounded them, v. הוּל. R.
